TOM GRINNELL
Tom Grinnell
Customer Relations/Numismatics
tom@gocoins.com
From a very young age, Tom Grinnell has been a collector of all types of U.S. coins. At age ten, he would search through $50 bags of loose pennies his mother would buy at the local bank in the small SE Texas town where he grew up. This hobby turned into a lifelong joy of collecting all denominations of coins. Tom has worn many hats over the years, having been a Tax Examiner for IRS in Austin, Texas while a student at the University of Texas. He was a business service rep for AT&T for twelve years before embarking upon a twenty five year career in mortgage banking. In addition to arranging loans for home and apartment purchases, Tom was also responsible for packaging large groups of loans and selling them on the secondary market, namely the Federal National Mortgage Corp. He retired in 2007, taking on part-time jobs as an usher for Angels Baseball, and as an enumerator with the U.S. Census Bureau.
When an opening arose at Tangible Investments for someone to sort and count coins, Tom came out of retirement to grab the opportunity. He is now responsible for customer relations, and works in the gallery assisting Senior Buyer Curt Mease. Tom brings half a century of experience in numismatics to his position, explaining to customers the nuances of a pastime rich in rewards of satisfaction, enjoyment, and investing. Tom has lived in Mission Viejo, CA thirty years with his wife Sandra, and has six grown children and four grandchildren, and enjoys reading U.S history, swimming, going to the beach, and searching through rolls of dimes and pennies.
